About the Event

Workshop Summary:

This two half-day workshop is designed to develop the creative and persuasive skills of gifted students using a game-based approach. Students will learn about the theories of creativity & persuasion, and how they can be applied in their studies and daily life. A series of fun and challenging games will be introduced and analysed to challenge students to extend their creative and persuasive skills through the topics below:

Creativity:

  • What is creativity and how can we become more creative?
  • How are games designed and what makes them so fun?
  • How can we apply creativity in English and Maths, and daily life?

Persuasive skills:

  • How can we effectively explain something we like and enjoy to people who know nothing about it?
  • How can we present ourselves as a confident person without sounding proud and arrogant?
  • How do we convince others about our ideas and point of views?

The workshop will be led by Ms Wong and Dr Kwok:

· Ms Wong is a high school English teacher in Sydney and a tutor and mentor for gifted students worldwide from countries including Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, and the UK. Ms Wong is the Gifted Education Advisor of Mensa NSW and graduated with a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from UNSW with excellence.

· Dr Kwok is both an experienced educator and a gifted individual himself. He has a Phd from UNSW, is a member of Mensa and achieved an ATAR equivalent of 99+.
