About the Event
Workshop Summary:
This two full-day workshop is designed to build public speaking skills via debating in immersive, contextualised scenarios. Students will be solving puzzles in a mystery scenario where they become the main characters in the storyline. Debating topics will be based on the many philosophical and social problems in such scenarios, while students practise each debating skill introduced as they get closer to the truth behind the mystery.
Throughout the workshop, debating skills such as elaborative reasoning, effective rebuttals, forming team lines and yardsticks, and identifying key clashes will be introduced to prepare students for the final debate on the last day. It is not intended to be a tutoring session but rather, it is an opportunity for students to work with like-minded peers on a shared goal and for students to develop the following skills in a fun and creative environment including:
- Public speaking
- Critical thinking
- Creativity
- Problem solving
- Teamwork and collaboration
This workshop is suitable for students who have an inquisitive mind, enjoy logical discussions and are eager to become better communicators.
