About the Event
Workshop Summary:
How is language an embodiment of culture? What does the language we speak tell others about us? This two-day workshop will explore and extend key English concepts utilising engaging and intellectually-stimulating activities that focus not only on skill acquisition, but also on the nurturing of the gifted mind to reflect on and incorporate learning into experiences in daily life.
This primary school stream is designed for Years 3-6 students. It will introduce concepts related to translation and culture, through activities such as mini debates and short story analysis to investigate how language is an integral part of culture and how the English language forms a part of one's identity.
Schedule: Thursday 6th - Friday 7th October (9:30am -1:00pm AEST)
Students will attend the online classes between 9:30am - 1:00pm (AEST) for 2 days.
The workshop will be led by Ms Wong, a high school English teacher in Sydney and a tutor and mentor for gifted students worldwide from countries including Australia, Hong Kong and the UK. Ms Wong is a member of Mensa and graduated with a Masters Degree in Gifted Education from UNSW with excellence.
This workshop will be delivered by Zoom and students are expected to set up their own connection to Zoom.
